CANNIBAL CORPSE GUITARIST, GOLF INSTRUCTOR. LIKE PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY.

robert rusay cannibal corpseThanks to MS Maniac Matt Fields for letting us know that original Cannibal Corpse guitarist Robert (nee Bob) Rusay has resurfaced as a golf instructor in Gilbert, Arizona:

After leaving the band, I quickly met my soul mate, Julie Christine Hammond. It was love at first sight and a family was in our immediate future. We were married shortly after that and had two beautiful children, with a new career just around the corner. For me it was just a matter of committing to it. Even before we married, the encouragement and support I got from my wife made the decision to pursue a career in the golf industry an easy one.

The next step was to obtain my teaching certification and that choice was easy. It would be the United States Golf Teachers Federation because the USGTF is all about teaching. After the first day of certification, I realized that to understand the basics and fundamentals of the golf swing made the game so much more enjoyable.

Golf > playing songs about smashing faces in.

What is this I don’t even

  2. Jesse Flip says:

    Sucks to be him.

  3. Cisco says:

Kinda sucks how he mentions that he was in a band, got signed at 18 and toured the world several times while contributing to the bands first three albums, but never mentions what genre of music he played nor what influential band he helped create.. what a sell-out.

  4. myke says:

age has not been kind to this guy. dude looks like hes in his fifties. at least the dude is making money and seems to be happy.

  5. RobotScythe says:

The guy is obviously happy with the choices he’s made in his life, so why is everyone being hard on him? Yeah, he followed a dream..what a loser (eye roll). I guess being fifty and still playing songs about rotting flesh just so he didn’t “sell-out” would’ve been cooler, eh? Please, the guy’s doing what he wants to do.

    • facefacefack says:

It wasn’t his choice. It was what he had to fall back on because the other members of CC booted him out.

  6. metalguy says:

its still weird to wonder what this guy must think, going from the most notorious death metal band ever and then being this. i just cant see how he can transition like that. but its his life and if hes cool with it i am to

  7. oblivion says:

There’s probably a lot more money in being a golf instructor, and I’m positive it’s easier on your neck than death metal. Kudos to this guy, he’s probably living a sweet life.

  10. THE CARL says:

In Centuries of Torment they talked about how this guy was pretty devastated when they kicked him out and that he kind of fell of the face of the earth and no one had any idea what happened to him so its nice to see that his life worked out for him.

  13. RELATED BUT TRUE FACT: Biohazard’s old drummer is now a car salesman.

  14. ERiK says:

I understand how he doesn’t want to glorify the fact that the band he toured with was indeed the legendary Cannibal Corpse. It doesn’t fit into what he’s doing now, but many golfers will respect the fact that he was a bonafide musician at one point.

Good for him getting a job at all in this economy.

  15. Open Golf says:

hey thanks for this news i realy like it.

  16. Old Skool Metal says:

I live in AZ and if you’ve never experienced an AZ summer, it’s brutal as fuck. If Rusay’s playing golf in 105 degree weather, THAT’S METAL AS FUCK!!!!!!

  17. ritchie dehaan says:

f#@Kn funny as wot the fuck
