TWO GOOD BANDS

Thursday, August 27th, 2009 at 2:30pm by Vince Neilstein

We do our best to bring you new music from new bands you may actually like, but sometimes it’s difficult to fit it in given all the crap that comes across our plates daily, such as Emmure selling branded boxing gloves and Atreyu performing a shitty new song. So, here we go. Two links, no descriptions; let us know what you think.

Prediction: not nearly as many of you will care/comment as you did about either of the two above-mentioned articles. Prove me wrong.

I’m digging the Struck By Lightning quite a bit….they have definitely been paying attention to how High On Fire and Mastodon do things.. The second band I am just not digging on the vocals at all. I will definitely check furtehr into the first band though. would like to hear their whole album.

  2. The M_F Beard says:

Struck By Lightning are tremendous, thanks for the link !!! \m/

  3. \m/Eluveitie\m/ says:

Struck By Lightning sound painfully generic, I’m not too fond of the songs Into The Presence has to offer either

  4. Patton says:

Struck By Lightning is pretty kick ass.

  5. Chilech says:

Struck By Lightning – Very good. Recommended.

    Into The Presence – really?

    I’m off for dinner.

  6. TurdFerguson says:

I like Struck By Lightning, not into the other band at all.

  7. LilalCFH says:

Struck By Lightning – Boring. Rather listen to High On Fire.

Into The Presence – Fuck you.

  8. Mike2 says:

Struck by Lightning is fucking great

    Into The Presence… I don’t know… Doesn’t feel very metal to me…

  9. LilalCFH says:

Can you guys recommend some good DEATH METAL bands?

For fuck’s sake, there’s plenty of this crap out there to sift through.

  10. Phill says:

Struck By Lightning sound like a generic Mastodon clone although not terrible. As far as Into the Presence is concerned…well Im sure you guys posted it as a joke to throw all of us metalheads off.

  11. Lady Death says:

So the lead singer of Sworn Enemy and Lacuna Coil have side projects?

  12. seveword says:

I like the name of the first band’s myspace, but they seem to take more from Mastodon and High on Fire than they need to, as mentioned above. Not bad, but not very noteworthy.

Second band? Not my cup o’ tea. No opinion.

  13. Canvas Of Flesh says:

I listened to two songs by each band and I can truthfully say that they both sucks ass.

    http://www.myspace.com/nuclearrabbitofficial

    Check that band out instead.

  14. Go Pens! says:

I dig struck by lightning, Into The Presence has no place here, and nuclear rabbit isn’t my thing.

  15. John says:

That into the presence band is pretty good, not metal, but definitely good musicians and they kind of have that mew feel, which im into

  16. MadSkins says:

Struck by Lightning is solid. That tune needs some polish but those guys are going to be good.

    Into the Presence. . .=P

  17. aaron m. says:

struck by lightning might not be anything special, but they’re pretty solid. like other people have said, they remind me of HOF with a little bit of amrep noise rock, which is pretty cool. not too big on into the presence, but i’ve heard worse shit getting promoted by alternative press, but that’s not saying much.

    • whyowhy says:

Yeah, they’re solid. But it’s only their first record. By their third, who knows what, maybe they become better, evolve their sound more . . . or they could become worse. It’s a fifty-fifty shot considering there’s only two choices :)

      • aaron m. says:

honestly, i don’t really see them getting worse or better. they seem like the kind of band who’ll stagnate and put out the same shit again and again leaving reviewers to describe them as “reliable” or “consistent”. but still, it’s decent enough to hold my attention until something better comes out.

  18. Keith Brown says:

Struck By Lightning is fucking badass. If I had a myspace page, they’d go on my friends list fasho.

  19. groverXIII says:

I can’t check these guys out at work because they block MySpace for some reason, but I will be checking them out later.

  20. stinkybritches says:

Struck by Lightning was okay, but Into the Presence sounded like that crappy band that Christopher was trying to get signed on the Sopranos.

  21. kirk says:

struck by lightning = early mastodon + high on fire = yummy

into the presence = dredge w/out the originality or depth = waste of time

  22. Tommy Lindbergsen says:

I haven’t met any Crossover bands that I really like yet, so Struck by Lightning is out.
Into the Presence has shitty vocals and doesn’t sound very metal either.

  23. snipes says:

struck by (fucking) lightning sound good for another mastodon-style band. not super-original, but listenable.
into the presence might be ok if my insomnia was really bad and I had a huge bowl to smoke.

  24. ThisIsNecessary says:

YAWN. Gay and gay. Try again.

  25. Phro says:

As quite a few people have already said, the vocals for the first band weren’t particularly inspiring. They went well with the music, I suppose, but I didn’t feel the need to listen to any more of their songs.

As for the second band…I could swear that was Panic at the Disco or the Used. Just listen to that whiney singing.
