MORE 8-BIT METAL MADNESS!

Last week Axl posted a metal cover of the Super Mario Bros. theme song; it was pretty fuckin’ cool, but with all due respect I think Nylithia’s metal cover of the “castle” music theme, sent in by MS Maniac Scott Bahash, blows it away. You’ve got shred, you’ve got real drums (as opposed to programmed), you’ve got live video of the band playing, and I like that this version is way more interpretive as opposed to just a straight cover. The ending is absolutely epic, too:

MS Maniac Will Mellor sent in this 8-bit cover of Slayer’s “Angel of Death,” which is also pretty good:

that was fucking awesome! and somebody needs to get to work on the castlevania and the ghosts n goblins metal covers. because those are easily the most metal of all nintendo games.

That was freakin’ awsome. I had no idea who those dudes were, but i sure as hell do now.

Those drums are programmed. Still awesome though.

Good stuff, but I’ll take Powerglove, Metroid Metal, or Minibosses any day.

Powerglove’s new album should be out soon… I’m all a-tingly over it.

I’m surprised by kerry’s total lack of hair in the slayer video. Post-mullet, pre raccoon-tail on his chin!

lol, I thought of this video after last weeks post. Saw this a few months ago.

Re: The Slayer video….from Jon Dette’s brief stint in Slayer. Wow.

  9. Sonsata says:

Yeah, I hear Powergloves next album is going to be cartoon tv and movie themes. I can’t wait to hear their version of X Men, that theme needs a metal cover.

Metal? Video Games? And no mention of armcannon?

8-bit metal is badass, although I prefer shit like R. Borlax by HORSE the Band where there’s a nintendo influence but they’re playing original shit instead of straight-up covering videogame music. Has anyone ever heard Dr. Zilog’s version of Unleashing The Bloodthirsty? It’s fuckin awesome.

If you want tr00 8-bit Nintendo Metal, Powerglove is the way to go. They are awesome live too. Throwing on their CD and playing videogames might just give you a huge erection. Such a great way to spend a weekend.

Horse is awesome too, but I agree — they have Nintendo INFLUENCE but they aren’t Nintendo metal. Their new band promo picture is fantastic. Totally throwing on Pizza as I type.

Fun track, although the drums are quite obviously programmed. The Mini Bosses still rule this ‘genre’.
