MORE FUN WITH “ST. ANGER” COVERS
Monday, October 5th, 2009 at 12:30pm by Vince NeilsteinBecause knocking on St. Anger never loses its appeal… even this techno re-imagining of Metallica’s “St. Anger” is better than the original. See also: the cover version by Theocracy’s Matt Smith.

At least the snare does not sound like Lars is dick slapping a huge mound of homo-feces.
Pretty cool. Interesting that they shifted the heavy riff in the intro back one eighth note so it’s on the beat instead of off.
Interesting fact: That’s Logan Mader (former Machine Head guitarist, amongst other things) playing guitar on that track.
I liked Pitchshifter better when they were still the industrial/death version of Godflesh, but they definitely did a better job with this song than Metallica did.
I love Pitchshifter. They are a great techno/Industrial band. Their early stuff is definately a lot harder and more industrial while http://www.pitchshifter.com and PSI took a turn to a more poppy techno feel with cleaner vocals. Personally I enjoy their newer stuff more. I find it’s better produced and easier to listen to
Fuck, how have I never heard this? I love Pitchshifter, and this is a pretty good cover of an otherwise crappy song.
Lars wishes he could drum like that
In before the No Fun Club show up with their usual “Stop making fun of Metallica and St. Anger! It’s getting old and unfunny!” bitching.
…this actually sounds like a really good song. If Metallica had written St. Anger like this, that record might not be shitted upon so much. I couldn’t even tell it was the same song for sure or not until the verse hit.
Yay! I never thought that MetalSucks would read my e-mail. Anyway, I love Pìtchshifter. In reality, they are my favorite band. And this cover rules.
Definitely better than the original. Still maybe not as good as the one by the Theocracy guy, though, hahaha.
