On Tuesday we told you that we’re sponsoring an AWESOME tour this winter with a four band bill, and while we can’t tell you all the bands on the bill just yet, we can tease that info out for you. So every day for the rest of this week, we’ll be posting an interview with a member of each band on the bill, featuring questions designed to help you guess who they are without spoiling the surprise. Then, this Monday, October 12, we’ll reveal the complete line-up for the tour!

As many of you guessed yesterday, Arsis will join Mutiny Within to be the second band on the bill. Their new album, Starve for the Devil, comes out January 15 on Nuclear Blast, and if the band’s last four albums are any indication, it’s gonna be the new year’s first contender for Best Album of 2010.

After the jump, check out the interview with a member of the third band on the bill. See if you can guess who it is just based on his or her answers!!!

Where is your band from?

San Fransisco.

Including yourself, how many members are there in your band?

Five.

How many words are in your band’s moniker?

One.

How many albums have you released? How many years has it been since your band’s debut album?

Ten and twenty-four.

How many members of your original line-up remain? And by “original,” I mean musicians who were on an album people have heard of. No one cares about that dude who was on your demo that one time.

Two.

To which label are you currently signed?

Nuclear Blast.

Were you or any other members of your band ever in another well-known band? (If so, please don’t say which band or bands… that would spoil the fun.)

Sure.

How would you describe your band’s particular brand of metal?

A hammer to the head.

Does your band have male members, female members, or some mix thereof?

All male

Does your band utilize clean vocals, screaming, or some mix thereof?

Once or twice maybe…

How many guitar players in your band?

Two.

Does your band have a drummer?

Yes.

Does your band have a bassist?

Yes.

Does your band have a keyboardist?

No.

Thanks for playing along, mystery guest. Please tell us one another random fact of your choosing that might help our readers guess who you are.

A former member has sold quite a few records [with another band]…

So… anyone got it figured out?

  1. key says:

    Anthrax?

  2. alex says:

i’m guessing exodus here, and really hope i’m right

  3. chris says:

    hmmm. im gonna say exodus

  4. Nick says:

    Exodus?

  5. James says:

    Testament

  6. Erick says:

Ummmm…. Looking at their roster I would go with Anthrax….. but if i’m right who in the hell is the headliner

  7. joshkid says:

Exodus has nine albums. Makes more sense that it’s Anthrax…

  8. Full Metal Jackoff says:

    EXODUS!!

I already wanted to go for Arsis, definitely going now!

  9. Patton says:

If its any of the above, the headliner must be something like judas priest.

  10. Ben says:

All signs point to exodus. First album in 1985, 5 members, from San Fran, it fits. I am completely sold on this tour now.

  11. LordBokrug says:

Anthrax is from Brooklyn, everybody knows that.

  12. Joe says:

Fistful of metal was released in 1984, making it 25 years ago.

Exodus only has 9 albums released

Testament doesn’t make any sense because their first album was released in 1987. Although they are from San Fran

Although who knows, maybe one of these bands that did the interview can’t count

    • PD says:

The almighty wikipedia says they’ve released 8 studio albums and 2 live albums (and 2 compilations), making that count 12. Or 10. I’d go just for Arsis.

  13. with us... says:

Exodus…. Kirk Hammett was in Exodus before joining Metallica.

  14. Pahkmycah says:

“Thanks for playing along, mystery guest. Please tell us one another random fact of your choosing that might help our readers guess who you are.

A former member has sold quite a few records [with another band]…”

Kirk Hammet was with Exodus for three years until he left for Metallica after Dave Mustaine got the boot.

    It’s Exodus.

  15. Crazy Eyes says:

It can’t be Anthrax because they’re not on Nuclear Blast. Exodus has been around more than 24 years (1982), so I was starting to think it’s probably Vader, but they’ve only got 4 members. So it’s definitly Testament. They’ve got 5 members, 10 albums, been around about 24 years, they’re from California, and they’re on Nuclear Blast Records.

  16. Crazy Eyes says:

And Exodus only has NINE albums.

  17. My Penis Itches Bad says:

Exodus only has one original member and nine albums

  18. Dysenteric says:

First album in ‘85, based in San Francisco, yeah, but only nine full-length albums. Currently signed to Nuclear Blast, five members…

It’s most likely Exodus, not a perfect fit, I know…

  19. Watson says:

I’d say Exodus fits when you consider the former member Kirk Hammet

  20. KSRaider says:

exodus has nine studio albums but if you count their compilation album, then it moves you up to ten.

i would rather see testament, but this is still going to be a sick tour

  21. Dysenteric says:

This tour’s most likely gonna be in the US, maybe Canada, so I don’t know why I’m giving this topic this much attention, not living in either country…

The tour – ? / Exodus or Testament / Arsis / Mutiny Within

MW are crap, as we’ve found out this week, and the others I’m indifferent to. Wonder who the headliner’s gonna be?

  22. duh-der-doy says:

anthrax is not from san fran
testament has more than 2 original members and has used clean vocals more than ‘once or twice’

  23. Hu3yL3w1sandTh3Fac3l3ss says:

Its gonna be Dokken….I know it.

  24. ab12 says:

at this point i just want to know the dates. but my guess for headliner would be lamb of god, theyre popular enough to play over exodus and all these bands tours end mid-november

    • mankvill says:

That’d make ticket prices go through the roof. Yuck. I bet the headliner is somoene like Behemoth, aren’t they on Nuclear Blast too?

      • ab12 says:

I was thinking it could be behemoth too, arsis is touring with them in europe soon, but i wasn’t sure if behemoth would headline over exodus. Testament could be the headliner too…

        • stu1 says:

Yes, Behemoth could tour over Exodus, and Testament

          • AEnema175 says:

i concur with this statement due to the fact that i am a bigger fan of behemoth than both of those bands, even though i love those bands. and i have been dying to see behemoth live, the only chance i have had was in a fucking outdoor arena that i would have to have binoculars to see them play. and fuck that. i hate arenas

      • Aaron says:

        Behemoth is on Metalblade.

  25. Blake says:

    It’s Exodus.

    Sweeeeeeeeeet.

  26. mankvill says:

Fucking hell. Exodus is a beast live, and so is Testament. I’d be happy for either one. Especially with Arsis going on right before them.

  27. WowWee! says:

    Hammerfall

  28. WowWee! says:

If its Testament I’m gonna splurge myself

  29. David says:

    Dude’s wearing a Sister’s of Mercy t-shirt? SWEET!!!!

  30. beastman says:

Dave Lomardo = former member of Testament (The Gathering)

  31. Paul Quinn says:

Ok, I’ve gone through every band signed to Nuclear Blast. Anthrax are signed, but are from NEW YORK! Testament and Exodus are both from San Francisco and both have single worded names, but Bonded by Blood came out in 85. The Legacy was released in 87. Here are the wikipedia pages to compare notes.

Mutiny Within, ARSIS, EXODUS……WHO THE FUCK IS HEADLINING?

  32. DS says:

    Exodus FTW!

  33. \m/Eluveitie\m/ says:

    Maiden is headlining

  34. DecrystallizingReason says:

I’m already sold. If this tour doesn’t come to my area, heads will fucking roll.

  35. Facebook User says:

with exodus and arsis on the bill i’m thinking the headliner may be Slayer…or it could be Meshuggah…but on a lesser scale, it wouldnt surprise me if the headliner was someone like Lamb Of God or Behemoth

  36. Facebook User says:

Can’t possibly be Testament cause 4 original members are still in the band (That’ll be Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick and Greg Chrstian :)

And yes, it’s Exodus cause KIRK FUCKING HAMMETT is the guy that sold “quite a few records”… And btw 2 original members? Gary Holt and Tom Hunting are the only ones from “the days” :)

  37. LilalCFH says:

    ALL THE POSERS MUST DIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

  38. David Hulsey says:

Its definitely Exodus. I fucking HATE their current vocalist to the point that I walked out on one of their shows a few years back…but I should give them another chance. So I’ll be attending. Great bill all around.

  39. Kevin says:

    Damn it was Arsis
    I am hoping its Exodus!!!

  40. Keith Brown says:

Holy SHIT, this is gonna be killer

  41. mankvill says:

“How many albums have you released? How many years has it been since your band’s debut album?

    Ten and twenty-four.”

    Bonded By Blood – 1985
    The Legacy – 1987

    It’s Exodus.

  42. Captain Wookie says:

Oh dear god, its Exodus!! It could go either way on Exodus and Testament but the deal breaker on Testament is the years between debut albums, otherwise it all pretty much lines up. Chuck wasn’t one of the original members, demos were made with Souza so thats three from the early days for Testament. But besides Kirk Hammett, Bostaph has made quite a few albums. Either way that is going to be one hell of a headliner

  43. X.Y.Z says:

Lamb of God is totally the headliner.
    Think about it:
Mutiny Within is an up-and-coming band from LOG’s record label.
Arsis is a band for the more extreme fans from LOG’s home state, Virginia.
Exodus is an old-school thrash band, a tag that LOG likes to use on themselves.
    I’m so fucking calling this.

  44. Sandblast says:

    I’m going with Exodus

  45. bucketochicken says:

    Uriah Heap?

  46. 6infinite6hatred6 says:

i really hope it’s not Anthrax. that would completely ruin the tour. it’s gotta be Exodus

  47. Elliott says:

    To X.Y.Z.-
Lamb Of God align themselves align themselves with old school thrash?
I’m pretty sure they’re currently touring with JFAC and GWAR…not exactly thrash bro!

  48. rob says:

log said metallica and headline off days were the last of 2009. slayer is overseas all nov/dec. so it cant be them. you the ass that said judas priest?? I think its behemoth they are do for headline tour of the states. testament headlining? i doubt it. but we will know tomorrow. ALL the interviews so far have been giving it away too easy.

  49. rob says:

o forgot, anthrax could only headline this if jon bush was back as full time member.

  50. X.Y.Z says:

To everyone who keeps talking about my comment:

I never said they were “old school thrash,” I merely said they draw a lot of influence from it. I probably used “align” in the wrong way here, but just to clear this up: they’ve stated that they take a lot of influence from thrash metal, so I was saying that it makes sense that they would want to take Exodus out on tour with them.

tl;dr miscommunication, Lamb of God is not thrash metal, Lamb of God takes influence from thrash metal, I’m predicting Lamb of God will be the headliner of this tour. Now please shut up.

  51. Nemesis says:

Why dis nobody point out to XYZ that Mutiny Within are on Roadrunner, which is not Lamb Of God’s label?

    • X.Y.Z says:

Ah, you’re right, actually. They are on it in Europe but since this is presumably a U.S. tour that doesn’t matter as much. My bad. Still think they’re gonna be the headliners though.

  52. myke says:

exodus??? wow good tour so far

  53. Nemesis says:

While I do love Behemoth, they aren’t that big in the US. You need a band with a little bigger draw…like DevilDriver! That’s my random guess since they:
    – had a new album this year
    – have enough draw for headlining shows
    – are on RoadRunner, who already has a ‘baby band’ on the bill
    – are a guitar-band, like the rest of the bill

  54. jwaal says:

    its brokencyde!!!

  55. Bob says:

I really want it to be arch enemy

  56. Anthony Read says:

    cannibal corpse???

  57. rob says:

Devildriver DOES NOT draw! Behemoth does draw.

  58. rob says:

cannibal corpse is touring with hatebreed and unearth, so it cant be them. devildriver is overseas during nov and dec. Does anyone do research before they make these dumb guesses?

  59. IWRESTLEDYOURMOMONCE says:

    Forbidden?

  60. Nemesis says:

Rob, have you ever seen devildriver live? They can definitely pack a club when they headline…i’ve been there. And, for the record, that wasn’t meant to be a shot at Behemoth.

  61. rob says:

ive seen dd 3 times. and behemoth has had more ppl every time. arch enemy cant headline this either, they are also overseas during nov/dec.

  62. Nemesis says:

Oh, and January is still the winter. MS never said the whole tour was during 2009.

  63. rob says:

did u see them on thrash and burn? it was all scene kids there, not dd fans.

  64. rob says:

if the tour was in jan. it would open up a lot more possibilities for bands to headline this.

  65. Nate L. says:

HOLY FUCK IS THAT JAMES MALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT ARSIS PIC??

GODDAMN HE FUCKING STARVED FOR THE DEVIL…

He must have gone from like 220 to 140 in one year, damn…

as long as he can still write kick ass music with awesome vox…

  66. stigmata_97 says:

I think the 4th band is Arch Enemy. MS showed the Beast of Man video first, they’re asking how many girls are in the band, and even other band appearences (Carcass).

  67. rob says:

you could say the same thing about them asking about keyboards (mutiny within). female fronted band capable of headlining this: arch enemy, maybe lacuna coil. thats all i can think of. it might just be band with a female member, like all that remains, winds of plague (they wouldnt be on this), elvitiue (i cant spell it).
I doubt it would be ATR they would have just down two US headline tours before this. Arch Enemy is really starting to make sense IF its a jan/feb tour. Arch Enemy has not played the states since May 2008!!!

  68. did you just piss on my xbox? says:

former member sells quite few recorde with another band….well it has to be kirk with metallica

    dead give away

    EXODUS!!!!!!!!

  69. boseefuss says:

    Goddam, Mutiny Withing is terrible!!
