THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN SAY “FAREWELL, MONA LISA”

Our bestest buds at Metal Injection found the below footage of DEP performing a new song, “Farewell, Mona Lisa.” It’s hard to get a really good feel for it given the mediocre audio quality, but it sounds pretty cool to me…

DEP’s new album, Option Paralysis, comes out March 23 on the band’s own Party Smasher label, via Season of Mist.

I know this will get me hated, but my favorite DEP songs are the “radio friendly” ones. I used to love the whole Calculating Infinity album, but eventually just got tired of all the fast strummed diminished 5th chords.

These guys are amazing musicians, now doubt, but I think they’re at their best with songs like Black Bubble Gum, Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants, and Milk Lizard.

I’ll be looking forward to the new album even if there is only 1 or 2 songs on it that I really like.

hey man, there’s nothing wrong with liking DEP’s radio friendly jams. they’re a great band and all of their songs are well written. most of my favorites are the almost radio friendly songs; “highway robbery,” “mouth of ghosts,” etc.

    • Hyperkulturemia

You’ll probably hate Option Paralysis since they set out to make their most aggressive work ever, but the follow-up is supposed to be all experimental and ‘radio friendly’ stuff.

    waiting for new album.
    waiting for new tour.

  • Hey_Yo

waiting for dilinger to stop making shitty music.

Im sorry. they havent put out a good album since miss machine and that was still ballsuckery in comparison to the previous albums. I used to hate seeing the posts ‘no care since 99′ But now… im like to hop on that wagon. Fuck this band. They suck now. hard.

    • Duff

“they havent put out a good album since miss machine”

They’ve only had one album since Miss Machine, Ire Works, and it’s awesome.

“that was still ballsuckery in comparison to the previous albums.”

They’ve only had one album before that.

    • Alkahest

You are an idiot, and I think it’s safe to say you don’t really “get it”.

  • SHOCKTROOP

    worst. band. ever.

    • Alkahest

      You don’t get it either.

  • I’m not racst, but I hate Oceano

DEP is better than anything you will ever touch or have anything to do with in your life. DEP is fucking art.

Saw them perform this song at my 20th DEP show in Long Island on Friday! My jaw was on the floor! Those of you waiting for Calculating 2: Give up. It’s NEVER going to happen! It’s a shame you’re so stuck in the past you can’t enjoy the amazing music and unbeatable live experience that come with being a Dillinger fan. I like all they’re albums, granted, Ire Works was far from perfect but I loved it none the less. This album is starting to sound like a new classic! March 23rd can’t come quicker!

My jaw just hit the floor

I was about to make fun of everyone making retarded hand gestures but then I saw myself in the front row making retarded hand gestures.

IMO Miss Machine rocks, Ire Works, couldn’t Be betterr, and i, like most of DEP Fans, got good reasons to expect another great album. RESPECT!

LP is great. All tracks are awesome. If you can’t grow along with the band, just loose it.
