EVEN IF YOU DON’T LIVE IN CLEVELAND, YOU CAN STILL TAKE DRUM LESSONS WITH CHIMAIRA’S ANDOLS HERRICK

Andols Herrick is easliy one of my favorite drummers in modern metal. And when he’s not working with the mighty Chimaira, he’s giving drum lessons! So while you might usually think “Gee, that’s awesome, I wish I lived near him in Cleveland so I could study with him,” Herrick is now going to be offering lessons via Skype, which means you can study with him no matter where you live. Sez Ballsinrmouth:

The lessons will be similar to the in-person ones done in Cleveland — usually split between focusing on hands and focusing on the whole kit (or just kick drum pads, if noise is a problem). As long as you have either a webcam or a built-in one on your laptop, all you have to do is download Skype and the video to video interaction doesn’t cost anything.

If I played drums or even had the hand-eye coordination necessary to try and play drums, I would totally take advantage of this opportunity. And while I’ve only met Andols for like a fraction of a minute, everything about him screamed “Incredibly nice dude!”  Interested parties can contact Andols at drummerandolsherrick AT yahoo DOT com.

I grew up in Cleveland, it’s a shithole.

Andols is a great guy. I’ve met him pretty much every time Chimaira was in Atlanta. His woman is hot as shit, maybe she’ll make an appearance naked on cam.

“Ballsinrmouth”! Holy shit I nearly spit milk out of my nose all over the screen.
Oh, and this is cool. Makes me kind of wish I still lived in CLE just so I could take drum lessons from Andols. Although, nevermind, I’d rather not still live in CLE because where I live now is a million times better.

I took my buddy for his birthday about 4 years ago for a lesson with Andols. It was a great experience for both of us and his teaching really helped him. :)

guys i don’t know if you play drums , but for me this guy so average .Although i admit he had few good moments on The Impossibility of Reason

But he may be a really good teacher. Obviously he knows how to play, he’s just not the most creative metal drummer out there. To me the point is that a metal drummer is taking the concept of lessons to a new level. It’s a sweet idea. Being able to take lessons from major musicians in any location is a huge step for music education. It’s also a new revenue component for the music industry that’s free of the record companies.

I took lessons from him in person last summer. He is a very good teacher who moves at your pace while still pushing you to better yourself. He is a super nice guy too and will even name off a few drummers to check out based on what it is you like. The 40bucks an hour I spent on lessons was well worth it.
