Darkest Hour 2010 tour

We can now officially announce what the entirety of Webernets has known for months; our favorite young thrash/death stallions in Revocation — whose 2009 album Existence is Futile placed near the top of multiple MS writers’ year-end lists — are the “special guest opener” for this fall’s MetalSucks-sponsored Legacy Tour. As if Darkest Hour, Veil of Maya and Periphery weren’t enough, now you get Revocation as well for what will surely be a raucous night of headbanging.

I think I’ve seen Revocation eight times so far this year (seriously) and I’m still not tired of them; their live performance is just so much fun and their music never loses its luster for me. Stoked. Also, our livers are going to be in serious pain the day after this show; we’ve yet to party with Veil of Maya (‘cept a quick backstage smoke sesh at Summer Slaughter) or Periphery, but every time we get together with Darkest Hour or Revocation bad, bad things happen.

And now, an exclusive welcome message from Revocation guitarist Dave Davidson:

    I don’t really care.

Revocation is indeed awesome, but I think their debut, “Empire of the Obscene,” is much better than “Existence is Futile.” Even as self recorded and produced, the production and mixing is stellar and the song writing is better. My problem with “Existence” is that while the musicianship is awesome, the song writing is not as good as it could be…as shown by their previous effort.

    • Strapping Young Lad

I agree. Where’s my Exhumed Identity???

      • AetherJake

        WHERES MY FIELDS OF PREDATION?

        • Strapping Young Lad

god… those 2 songs are fuckin gems.

  • raiseyerfists

So, watch the first band and then go the fuck home.

    • Izzay E

Exactly what I’m going to do. Mostly because when they’ll be in NM, it’ll be my mums bday. Can’t miss Revocation, can miss the other bands. Hahah.

  • el fucko

it should be Veil of Papaya/Veil of Triggered drums opening, then Periphery, then Revo, then Darkest.

  • Slaughterhouse

    Nov 23rd will be great!

    • Shocktroop

fuck yea. i just saw that. see you there. although i might just go for revocation and then dip out. unless there’ a crazy blizzard goin on and I can’t get there.

I got a concussion when I saw Revocation in Brooklyn. Funny thing is being in the pit is completely safe but their were these really fat dudes who were taking out people who were on the sidelines when they weren’t looking. I saw Revocation’s camera guy get drop kicked in the back for no reason lol. Another guy did a cartwheel into someone’s face and knocked over everyone standing near him like bowling pins. So yeah I don’t even know what hit me as Misery Index ended but I had trouble standing for a minute afterwards.

On the subway ride home people looked really concerned for me and that’s when I realized I had blood on my face. Nice chick at Grand Central Station gave me a wet wipe lol.

That being said. Revocation kicks ass. They didn’t make the crowd move like Misery Index BUT in all fairness the lead singer was “really sick” that day so hey it’s all good. I’d like to see this….but this time I’m watching out for the fat bastards in the pit. Nothing is more annoying than one of these windmilling assholes spilling your seven dollar beer.

    • AetherJake

And this, my friends, is why there will be an actual pit, without any “windmilling”.

Yet another sweet tour that doesn’t come to Kansas City. Why do we get boned for living in the middle of the country? Lame. At least denver and chicago aren’t too far away.

At least you guys have the only undefeated NFL team….and damn I’ve never ever seen
the Chiefs as good as they are now.

i feel your pain. theres times when tours skip the whole northwest that means Seattle WA, Spokane WA, Boise ID, and Portland OR. I leave in spokane but i would have made the 5-7 hour drive to any of those cities if they had toured up here….

Good to see people mosh to revocation in other states. I just saw them in anaheim and NOT ONE PERSON moshed. Sure, people were there for despised icon but its kinda rude to the band, no? At one point davidson shouted out “here’s that fucking breakdown you’ve all been waiting for.” He was clearly annoyed. Stupid kids!

At least their LA date this time is in pomona at the glasshouse. Thy gets a way better crowd than chain reaction in anaheim.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Colin-OConnor/1491245262 Colin O’Connor

See to me the breakdown is basically in the same vein as a flashing “applause” sign for a studio audience. “OK guys here is your generic signal to go and beat the crap out of each other.”

When I saw Rev in Brooklyn it was kinda the same thing going on. Misery Index has simple yet awesome songs that have very easy to follow cues so they really moved the crowd much more then Revocation did. Still another problem is self-consciousness of the fans. I knew the songs of Existence is Futile really well so I had a better idea when it was a good time to go nuts. Basically A lot of people would see me start and then follow suit. I’m thinking lots of people won’t do anything until they see someone else do it. Maybe then if your at a show like that you need to step up and be the first. Alcohol helps lol.

sure dates in canada but not 1 date in the northwest…..

  • Strapping Young Lad

I’m excited being that I’ve been following Periphery/Bulb online for about 4 years and still haven’t caught them live, AANNND because Revocation was without a doubt the best local band in boston. Wish I still lived there :-(
