TOO SOON TOO? ANSO DF’S BEST OF 2011… SO FAR

Thursday, August 4th, 2011 at 2:00pm by

Cosmo started it at Invisible Oranges. Then our Axl and Murder Corey got in the mix. Next, Vince wanted some. And on Wednesday, Gary didn’t mind if he did. Now, with your permission, I, Anso DF, will help myself and list 2011′s best jam-parties so farsies.

May I? Thanks!

  • Anal Cunt Fuckin’ A (PATAC)
  • Anthrax Worship Music (Nuclear Blast)
  • Believer Transhuman (Metal Blade)
  • Devin Townsend Project Deconstruction (InsideOut/Hevy Devy)
  • Dir en grey Dum Spiro Spero (The End)
  • Fleshgod Apocalypse Agony (Nuclear Blast)
  • Gentlemans Pistols At Her Majesty’s Pleasure (Metal Blade/Rise Above)
  • Hate Eternal Phoenix Amongst The Ashes (Metal Blade)
  • Kampfar Mare (Napalm)
  • Whitesnake Forevermore (Frontiers)

***

What 2011 jamz am I crazy to miss? What records do you most anticipate in the coming months? Are you into the new Black Dahlia Murder and/or Sepultura? What creeper records didn’t snag you immediately but rock bonerz? Is that Van Halen record going to work? Will Chickenfoot come through? Why do I hear no talk of the latest Cave In record? What 2010 classics still rule your ballz/boobz as The Devil’s Blood rules mine? Do you care more or less than usual about an upcoming Opeth album? How about Warbringer, Mastodon, and Yob?

Well, after all the hype Vince did here, I was kinda disappointed with that new Believer album…

    • The Hamburger Penis

I totally dug that new Believer album.

  • Nonsensei

Kinda bummed out by the lack of love Deconstruction is getting. I understand the arguments, I just really enjoyed it.

  • Anvil

    Hey where’s Juggernaut of Justice?

  • Hal Skidmarks

    GARY SUAREZ SUCKS

  • YevgoR

Fuckin’ A for Whitesnake but where is KYPCK, Colosseum, Evergrey, Scar ‘Death Jovi” Symmetry and Lake Of Tears?

  • Kye

Dum Spiro Spero should be on every year end list.

    • Toodlenooth Bargargon

Sadly a lot of people won’t give it the light of day due to Dir en grey’s past work and Visual kei days. “Uroboros” and “Dum Spiro Spero” aren’t just Dir en grey’s best albums, they are great albums in general.

  • spanisheddie

    These lists are so lulzy

  • AGHAST

    Worst list.

    • Jewcifer

You say that about every list, ya rat bastid.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mike.reagan Mike Reagan

I love that Anthrax is on all the lists

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1315346890 Phil Freeman

I find that kind of inexplicable. I’ve heard the record (well, as much of it as I could stand), and…it’s not good.

Ugh. I don’t care about this column, by why the fuck does the comment section suck so much now?

To make it easier for them to count the “+1′s” on the caption contests and the end of the year reader “best of” list. At least that’s my guess…

I agree with Fleshgod and Hate Eternal. But that’s not my concern. My concern is……What the fuck happened to the comments?

    Woah, MetalSucks looks different.

Anyways, didn’t know Kampfar had a new album. Gotta check that out.

  • Ziltoid

    Mitochondrion – Parasignosis

Easily the best album of the year, but it’s only for the very experienced death metal fan. Imagine an odd hybrid of Demilich and Portal. That’s the best way to describe it.

Wahey, some love for Gentleman’s Pistols.

  • http://twitter.com/tc7005 oh yeah, it’s Todd

Was that latest Ulcerate album this year? I liked that, Hate Eternal, Origin, and TBDM. I was really looking forward to Decapitated but didn’t really love that one. Also, anybody heard the new Benighted? What did you think of that?

  • http://baphometrik.deviantart.com/gallery/ Baphometrik

What about the new SOURVEIN??? Its great.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tyler-Harris/1428087632 Tyler Harris

Hate Eternal and Fleshgod Apocalypse will probably make my year-end top 20

  • Ghost

    worst list ever

  • Lord of the Fruit Flies

Good to see Kampfar on a “best -of-so-far” list.

I’m sad that nobody’s had Tyr’s “The Lay of Thrym” on a “best of” list though. It seems like that one pretty much slipped by unnoticed, which is a shame because it is a rather enjoyable album.

  • Jewcifer

new November’s Doom is very good. Check it.

  • Spideralex90

    Dir En Grey is awful.
