Video Premiere: Disparager Go Dark in Haunting Clip for “Fall”Rather than start with a description and finish with a quote as we usually do, it seems appropriate given the disturbing nature of Disparager’s new video for the song “Fall” that we do things in reverse. Here’s vocalist Christopher AhKao:

“Our new record Existential Dread is about pain, meaninglessness, perseverance, and spiritual peace. I was in a very dark place most of that record, and the band was very therapeutic to me, and I hope that the sonic and lyrical journey that Disparager has to offer might give our listeners similar catharsis.”

Well then! It’s no wonder the video for “Fall,” directed by Rob Maloof, is so dark. Watch it below and see for yourself. Sonically speaking, Disparager draw from influences ranging from post-metal to shoegaze to Hum and Weezer, and the result is music that’s at times bright on the surface — much like the video — but blacker than black at its core.

Disparager’s new album Existential Dread comes out on May 3rd; pre-order here. East Coast tour dates posted under the embed.
