HOPE YOU WEREN’T TOO EXCITED ABOUT THAT METALOCALYPSE VIDEO GAME
It’s been so long since Konami announced Metalocalypse: Dethgame that I’d completely forgotten about it. The title was supposed to be released last fall as a downloadable game via the XBOX Live Arcade and Playstation Network stores, but now we’re quickly barreling towards this fall (scary) and we haven’t heard any updates.
Well, guess why? From IncGamers:
Adult Swim has confirmed to GamePro that “Cartoon Network Enterprises has indeed ended production on the previously-announced Metalocalypse: The Dethgame.”
“The decision was made that the creative direction of the game would not live up to the high standards we had set for the project and we did not want to release a less than outstanding game.”
So that’s kind of a bummer, especially if, like me, you’re a big fan of ancillary revenue. On the other hand, it’s nice to see people pull the plug on a tie-game ’cause of its shitty quality, instead of, y’know, putting it out anyway. And with plenty of other video games being released in the fall (and I hear this Limbo game on the XBOX Live Arcade is pretty sweet), gamers such as myself will surely find other ways to make sure we don’t have to go out in the sun.
