Music Dorkery

Job for a Cowboy drummer Jon “Charn” Rice might be this year’s Ryan Knight, which is to say: If I’d heard The Black Dahlia Murder’s Ritual just a couple of weeks earlier, I probably would have pushed for Knight to be on our list of The Top Modern Metal Guitarists; likewise, if I’d heard Job for a Cowboy’s Demonocracy just a couple of weeks earlier, I almost certainly would have pushed for Rice to be on our list on The Top Modern Metal Drummers. Bummer. (But further evidence that these lists are pretty silly, and totally not worth getting cranky over.)

So. If, for whatever reason, you’re still not hip to the fact that Rice is a total monster behind the kit, you should watch the below drum cam footage of him performing the Demonocracy track “Black Discharge,” courtesy of Sick Drummer. And if you are already hip to what a monster this dude is, well, you already know what a treat you’re in for. Watch:
