ANAAL NATHRAKH STRIKE AT THE FORFEET OF A HORSE WITH THE SHOES OF THE HIND FEET TOWARDS THE SUN. OR SOMETHING.

First: there’s a new Anaal Nathrakh song, “Forging Towards the Sunset,” streaming over at Brooklyn Vegan. It’s awesome and you should go listen!

Second: how the crap does one “forge” towards the sunset?

I mean, I thought I had a pretty good handle on the meaning of the word “forging,” but this song’s title actually made me think the word could be a synonym for “moving” and I just didn’t realize it. So, to be safe, I looked up the definition of the word “forging.” And, no, it’s not a synonym for “moving.” The closest way in which one might equate forging with movement is when you use the words to me “to strike the forefeet of a horse with the shoes of the hind feet.” But the title “Striking at the Forefeet of a Horse with the Shoes of the Hind Feet Towards the Sun” still doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me, and I have a hard time believing that’s what Anaal Nathrakh intended. [Yes it is a synonym for moving forward, you fucking moron. -Ed.]

Is it possible they meant “foraging,” not “forging,” and no one caught the error? “Searching for Provisions Towards the Sun” makes a little more sense to me. Bbbuuutttt… yeah I dunno.

ANYWAY, like I said, the song rules. Listen here, then weigh in with your thoughts (and maybe help me clear up this confusion about the title?) in the comments section below. The track will appear on Annal Nathrakh’s Vanitas, which comes out October 15 on Candlelight.
