The Dillinger Escape Plan The Faceless Royal Thunder

UPDATE, 12:45pm EST: Full tour dates have been added to the itinerary below.

Original Post:

The Dillinger Escape Plan sure went from 0 to 60 in a hot second: since announcing they signed with Sumerian Records last November, they announced an appearance at this year’s New England Metal and Hardcore Fest, revealed their new album’s title and cover artwork, announced said album would be released in May and said they’ll be appearing at Metallica’s Orion + More Music Festival in June. Whew! And now they’ve just announced a full, proper tour too. The new album promotional machine is in full swing for Dillinger.

Dillinger will bring the unlikely pairing of The Faceless and Royal Thunder along with them on their tour. The Faceless make some sense as a touring partner for DEP; both bands play highly technical music on the extreme side of the spectrum, even if that music comes from different branches on the metal family tree (and both bands share a record label). But I’m sure there are going to be a lot of confused looks in the crowd when Royal Thunder take the stage; they could well gain a few new fans, but for Royal Thunder’s sake I sure hope they’re prepared to have some serious venom spit their way. As a fan myself, though, I love it: three awesome bands together on one bill.

Here are the tour dates, per a press release from Sumerian Records. The press release also revealed a concrete release date for One of Us is the Killer: May 14th.
