This is the New Taterÿche Song, and It Sucks

Queensryche - Frequency Unknown

The Tate-less version of Queensryche released a new song a couple of weeks back, “Redemption,” and it was pretty darned good. Not like Mindcrime good or Empire good or anything DeGarmo good, but, ya know, the kind of good where you at least have a desire to listen to the track again because it’s a pretty close approximation of old ‘Ryche.

Now Geoff Tate’s version of Queensryche — the “supergroup” that’s losing members weekly — have released their own new song. And it stinks.

Queensryche 1, Tateryche 0.

Other than Tate’s voice there is nothing Queenrychian whatsoever about this song. The guitar solo is pretty good, so a pat on the back is in order for whoever replaced Glen Drover. But that’s about it. I find it hilarious that all press copy for this single trumps up that it was mixed by Anthony Focx — who apparently has worked with Newsted, Aerosmith and Buckcherry — as if the guy was never the second guitarist in Beautiful Creatures.
