A View From the Pit

Roskilde Festival Photos: Setting the Scene, Watching the People

Roskilde

People watching: a favorite pastime of all travelers.

The Roskilde Festival had some particularly good people watching opportunities, as 100,000 of Scandinavia’s musically inclined young folk gathered in one place for four days (and in some cases nine days) of music, camping, friends, drinking and good times. I did my best to candidly capture the wide variety of folks attending the festival without being a total creep about it.

In this photo set I also try to set the scene: the layout, the stages, the food vendors, the onlookers, the camping sites, the general atmosphere, the overwhelming enormity of the entire thing. One could spend all of the festival’s days walking around the grounds and campsites and still not see it all; there’s just too much of it. Just pick your spots and enjoy, go with it and hope for the best.
