Sioux Get “Closer” to What We Want in a Nine Inch Nails Cover


Props to Portland’s Sioux, a band with whom I was unfamiliar before today: they’ve released a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” that not only puts a unique spin on the material (as opposed to just being a xerox of the original), but that also manages to be pretty goddamn good (as opposed to, say,  Thou and The Body’s cover of “Terrible Lie” from last month, which was horrendous). There’s not a trace of NIN’s signature industrialism here; instead, Sioux have reimagined the track as a sludgy beardo jam, kind of a hybrid between Mastodon and Eyehategod. Dig it:
