Exclusive Track Premiere: Santa Cruz, “6(66) Feet Under”

Santa CruzWhy does so much great glam metal come from Finland? That’s a rhetorical question — spare us the usual lines about infinite winter darkness or neverending summer light or whatever — ’cause we really don’t have an answer. Sure, maybe it’s a stretch to say “so much great glam metal” when really we’re just talking about Hanoi Rocks, Reckless Love and now Santa Cruz, but given those bands’ most unlikely home country that’s still saying something, isn’t it?

We first stumbled upon Santa Cruz last year when the band dropped a music video for “We are the Ones to Fall.” The band’s gift for songwriting and deft musicianship, both with just the right amount of old school tropes and new school flare, impressed the crap out of us right away. So when we caught wind of the band’s forthcoming new self-titled album — which “We are the Ones to Fall” appears on — we were excited from the get-go, and premiering one of its tracks to the world was a no-brainer.

Here’s what the band has to say about “6(66) Feet Under:”

6(66) is an in-your-face song with hard rock riffs, Michael Jackson-esque rap verses and aggressive lyrics about kicking your face in. There’s something surprising about the bridge part before the solos as well — dig it!

Santa Cruz comes out on March 10th via Spinefarm. Pre-order it here. Hair/glam metal enthusiasts are going to absolutely eat it up. Upcoming North American tour dates below.
