Not Quite Metal?

Publicist UK: Sounding Bigger and Better Than Ever

Last summer we introduced you to Publicist UK, a decidedly un-metal band from a crew of very metal dudes: Dave Witte (drums in every band ever), Revocation bassist Brett Bamberger (also ex-East of the Wall), Goes Cube guitarist David Obuchowski and Freshkills vocalist Zachary Lipez. The demos that caught our attention also caught that of Relapse Records, and now the band is set to release their first official album, the nine-song Forgive Yourself, which will come out on August 21st.

The biggest difference this time around: recording quality. The demos were good, but they were pretty rough; this time producer Dean Baltulonis has made the band sound absolutely massive, and the tunes are all the better for it. I suspect Lipez’s vocals will be a turnoff for some, but give this band a chance. The music is rooted in ’90s alternative and post-hardcore but has a distinctly metal bent to it. Check out “Levitate the Pentagon” below and let us know what you think.

Pre-order Forgive Yourself on physical formats here and digital here.
