Soulfly Sold Their Souls to Metal
Generally, I like this new Soulfly song, “We Sold Our Souls to Metal.” I do kinda wish it wasn’t a metal song about how awesome metal is, though. The only time metal songs about metal don’t end up being really cheesy is when they’re either deliberately silly (e.g., Steel Panther’s “Death to All But Metal” and Brian Posehn’s “Metal by Numbers”), contain lyrics which one could interpreted as being about something other than metal (e.g., Metallica’s “Battery”), or are by Manowar. I know Max Cavalera isn’t exactly known for his poetry, but still. The inadvertent humor created by the lyrics isn’t a deal breaker, it’s just a deal-I-need-my-attorney-to-look-over-this-before-I-signer-iter.
