Stream the New Abhorrent Album Right Now! (ex-The Faceless, Spawn of Possession, Absvrdist)

We’ve been waiting a LONG time to hear music from Abhorrent, the death metal band featuring former The Faceless drummer Lyle Cooper, as the band blew through self-imposed deadlines in both 2013 and 2014. But all’s well that ends well — especially when the music is this nasty — and 2015 is finally the year in which we get to hear what Cooper, guitarist Marlon Friday (Absvrdist, Crumbling Mirth), Erlend Caspersen (Spawn of Possession, ex-Deeds of Flesh) and vocalist Nick Browntown (Absvrdist) have been working on all this time.

The track we posted a couple of weeks ago featuring The Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad was just the tip of the iceberg; Intransigence, the full album from whence it came, absolutely RIPS. This is the kind of brutal, technical death metal that’s gonna take several listens to really wrap your head around, but there’s plenty in the way of riffs and musical hooks to sink your teeth into right away. Abhorrent remind me a bit of a mix between off-kilter, skronky tech-death like Artificial Brain and more straight-ahead tech-death such as Psycroptic (or, appropriately, Spawn of Possession).

Intransigence is out now on Willowtip Records. Order it via Bandcamp.
