Dio Carrots: Now a Thing
This has to be one of the weirder cases of copyright infringement I’ve ever encountered.
A MetalSucks reader who works for a Canadian importer and wholesaler of fruits and vegetables sent us this photo, taken early this morning, Dio Fresh Carrots:
In case you have somehow never seen the Dio logo before, well, it’s more or less the same — the carrot people (carroteers?) just filed down some of the spikes on the side of the “D” and the “I” and in the middle of the “O” and then moved the letters closer together:
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out who the hell the Dio carrot people are. The only semi-relevant thing I can find when I Google “Dio Vegetables” is a Michigan newspaper ad from 1911, and “Dio Fresh Carrots” brings up nothing at all. But I imagine Wendy Dio’s attorneys will have some way of figuring it out.
Unless… does anyone know if Ronnie James Dio did any vegetable farming in his spare time and this is HIS company?!?! Because that would be amazing.
