Blake Judd Releases Nachtmystium Remixes/Rarities Collection, Vows to “Make Things Right” with Fans
One dude I definitely did not expect to hear from ever again is Nachtmystium’s Blake Judd, with whom MetalSucks has had something of a rocky history (a not uncommon experience, unfortunately). So imagine my surprise when we got an e-mail from him over the weekend.
The reason for the communiqué? Judd re-emphasized that he is now sober, and further asserted that he wants to attempt “to make things right with people I burned [during my] active addiction.” To that end (and despite previously saying he was done with music — I don’t think anyone will hold it against him for reneging on that particular vow), Judd has now released a new Nachtmystium collection entitled Retox: Remixes and Rarities. In addition to some previously unreleased covers and “some other odds and ends,” the album features Nachtmystium remixes by metal luminary Sanford Parker (once a member of Nachtmystium himself), as well as current and former members of Nine Inch Nails, Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, and Salvo.
You can listen to the collection below; Judd says sometime soon he plans to put the entire thing on Bandcamp, “in the highest quality sound files possible,” for free download.
It remains to be seen if Judd sticks to his word this time and does, in fact, manage to make it up to all the friends, fans, and business associates for whom he caused problems. But I’ll tell you this: no one is rooting for him more than we are.
