SubRosa Return with Haunting New Track From Upcoming Album

0

In what might be the most eerie and relevant timing of any music release this year, SubRosa unleashed a gorgeously painful new track yesterday titled “Wound of the Warden” via NPR. While it’s highly unlikely they meant for the criticism of authority to be so fitting, the band has managed to encapsulate the agony so many in the world are feeling right now by delivering 13 minutes of concurrently devastating and gorgeous doom.

This track is the first off SubRosa’s upcoming album For This We Fought the Battle of Ages out August 26th on Profound Lore Records. Their 2013 tearjerker More Constant Than the Gods still makes me weep from start to finish (electric violin will do that to a girl, I suppose), but the band’s official site promises that they’re “expanding their sound to a new plateau with the heaviest, darkest, and most dynamic-sounding” material yet. As if that wasn’t enough to excite, there is also a mention of Appalachian murder balladry, and as the resident redneck in the MS Mansion, I can safely assure you that’s never a bad thing.

You can listen to the official stream over at NPR. Pre-order For This We Fought the Battle of Ages here.

The band heads out on tour later this year (no East Coast dates though — expected, but still a bummer). Dates below.
