Babymetal and Warner Bros. Developing Hybrid Live-Action and Animated Series

Just a week after Steel Panther announced that they’re working on a comedy series about themselves, one of metal’s other most fictional-adventure-ready acts, Babymetal, have now revealed that they’re working on a series of their own.

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. digital studio Blue Ribbon Content and Japan’s Amuse USA, a subsidiary of Amuse Inc., are developing a hybrid live-action and animated series. What will the series be about? Glad you asked!

“The action-adventure will take viewers inside the magical world of heavy metal music as it comes under attack, and one lonely god, Kitsune, forms the warrior band Babymetal to save the day. In the series, Su-Metal, Yuimetal and Moametal join together to ultimately redefine the genre. The series also will feature new live-action performances from the group, who will enter the animated world through a secret portal.”

That sounds about right.

There’s no word on when the digital series may premiere, but rest assured, as soon as we know more, you’ll know more.
