Video: Metallica Play “Moth Into Flame” on Fallon

0

You guys heard “Moth Into Flame” yet? The new-new Metallica song that’s pretty good but not quite as good as the old-new Metallica song? Give it a listen and check out the video. Again, not terrible, but man, that line about “going viral” makes me wince every time.

Anyway, Metallica have been wheeling out the song quite a bit, including at a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and whether or not you love the song it’s cool to see the band in a bunch of black clothing playing actual thrash metal again (Muuuh, that’s not REAL thrash, like _____, whine the tadpoles and skidmarks). You can watch the performance below.

There are definitely a few noteworthy things about this video, among them:

  • Does any other band on earth show off their drummer this much?
  • It’s funny how everyone else in the band has gone back to some garage rocker clothing, and Kirk Hammett was like, Nah, I’m still going to dress like Vincent Price at an orgy.
  • SO MUCH SWAGGERING. I guess this is the new Metallica stage move — shift weight, swings hips, step forward, step back. Hetfield’s the worst at it, but Hammett and Trujillo definitely do quite a bit of it. It’s like the Axl Rose snake dance for people with no joints.

Anyway, check out the video below and let us know what you think. The new Metallica album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, drops November 18th via Blackened Recordings.
