Opeth Mastodon Gojira Philadelphia 2017Why will so many awesome bands converge on Philadelphia on the same night? Who cares? Don’t ask questions, just get to buying tickets!

On May 6th, to kick off their summer 2017 outdoor concert series, The Electric Factory in Philadelphia will host Opeth, Gojira and Devin Townsend — who will be touring together in the U.S. — along with Mastodon, Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles for a special one-off show.

Could the latter three bands be planning a tour together as well? Hmmm…

Either way, that’s an unbelievably stacked lineup that’s worth traveling down the NJ Turnpike for, even if it means putting up with insufferable Philadelphia sports fans.

Here’s Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor with a few words on the show:

The Mastodudes and myself couldn’t be more excited to join forces with some of our best friends, and best bands on the planet for a missing link hard rock and heavy metal extravaganza in beautiful Philadelphia. We don’t care if you like Pat’s OR Geno’s, come on down and help us worship the lord of riffs and bring a change of underpants, you’re going to need them!

Tickets are on sale now. If you’re looking for a centrally located hotel in Philadelphia, check the selection of TravelMag.com for the best deals.

We’ll keep you posted on Mastodon touring details if/when they are announced. A tour bill featuring Masto, EoDM and Russian Circles would indeed be pretty sweet.
