Periphery’s Misha Mansoor Wrote an Orchestral Cover of the Final Fantasy VII Battle Theme Music

0

Periphery mastermind Misha Mansoor is all about experimenting with orchestras in his down time. He’s also an avid gamer and sometimes those interests meet, as they did last year when he wrote an orchestral accompaniment to an imaginary RPG.

This time Misha’s tried his hand at the music from one of the most famous games of all time, Final Fantasy VII, in particular the music from the battle sequences. I never got into Final Fantasy VII — my interest in the FF franchise began and ended with the NES original — but this is epic music any way you look at it, and Misha’s arrangement is top notch. I’ve included the original below, too, for reference.

Periphery are going on tour with The Contortionist, Norma Jean and Infinity Shred this spring; get dates here.
