Rumor: Metallica Plotting U.S. Stadium Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat

Well, gee, this is exciting.

Metallica have been hinting at a U.S. summer stadium tour in support of their latest album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, since November.

Now, according to Blabbermouth, “The trek, which will consist of at least twenty shows, is expected to be officially announced later this month.” The rumor goes that Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat will also be on the bill.

Assuming this is the case, it will be Metallica’s first stadium tour since the 2003 edition of Summer Sanitarium, which was in support of St. Anger and also featured Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, the Deftones, and Mudvayne. My, how the times have changed!
