Swedish Musician Martin Persner Claims to Have Been One of Ghost’s Nameless Ghouls

  • Axl Rosenberg

You may or may not recall that last year, one of Ghost’s Nameless Ghouls — the guitarist known as “Omega” — left the band, leading the band’s bassist, sometimes called “Water,” to move over to guitar while the band recruited their first-ever Lady Ghost.

Now Swedish guitarist Martin Persner, perhaps best known for his work with Tid, has released a (bizarrely solemn) video in which he a) claims to be Omega, and b) announces the resurrection of his old band, Magna Carta Cartel, a.k.a. “MCC.”

And he’s probably telling the truth: rumors that Persner and Omega are one and the same have persisted for years.

Still, this is the first time I can recall a musician publicly announcing his membership in Ghost. Am I forgetting someone?

It’s currently rumored that Ghost are getting a major line-up overhaul, so maybe more of Omega’s former bandmates will step forward now? Although I kinda hope they don’t. It really does ruin the illusion to know who any of these people are.
