Jesper Strömblad on In Flames: “I Think They Should Actually Change the Name”

Last year, former In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad called the band “a sinking ship.” But that was before In Flames released Battles in November. So maybe that record made Strömblad come around to the group’s new musical direction?

Nope! Strömblad has few nice things to say about In Flames in a new interview with Metal Wani:

“To be honest, I think they should actually change the name, because it’s such a huge, huge difference from the beginning. But if that’s the way they wanna do it, fine. And they’re happy with the new members, so good luck to them. Everyone is in the right place.”

Strömblad went on to assert that he doesn’t think In Flames have become a bad band — just a different one. I don’t believe that’s what he believes, but he did say that’s what he believes.

Is Strömblad right about the band’s name? Probably. The last time I saw In Flames, the setlist had exactly one song in it that I recognized. It was 99% newer shit. It certainly didn’t feel like In Flames.

But the band isn’t gonna change their name. Gotta keep up those guarantees, son!

Side with or against Strömblad in the comments section. YES YOU MUST CHOOSE THERE IS NO GRAY AREA WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING AS UTTERLY IMPORTANT AS THIS!!!
