New Years Day’s Cover of Kehlani’s “Gangsta” is the Worst Thing to Happen to DC Comics Since Zack Snyder

New Years Day have covered Kehlani’s song “Gangsta,” which effectively served as the theme for Joker and Harley Quinn in last year’s Suicide Squad. This being the case, New Years Day’s video is basically a fan film homage to that movie. I don’t know why you’d want to associate yourself with a flick that everyone, the writer/director included, seems to agree was a total fucking mess… but I also don’t know why you’d call your band ‘New Years Day’ instead of ‘New Year’s Day.’ SEO maybe? Doesn’t change the fact that the band’s name means Day of New Years, which sounds like the title of another awful movie.

ANYWAY, the video: if you’ve ever wanted to see scenecore-themed cosplay of Batman’s rogues gallery, here’s your chance. As a bonus, the nu-metalcore reinterpretation of the song is both terrible and even more heavily-soaked in autotune than the original. So I guess New Years Day accomplished something.

If you enjoyed that drek, it appears on Punk Goes Pop Vol. 7. Wait… does that mean we’re supposed to think New Years Day is a punk band???
