Watch Michael Angelo Batio Shred… Tax Returns

0

As part of H&R Block’s initiative to remind American taxpayers that it’s wise to dispose of tax documents (and other records with personal information on them) after seven years — and that it’s best to do so by using a paper shredder to all but eliminate the possibility personal information is stolen — they’re pushing something they’ve dubbed National Shred Day, which takes place tomorrow, March 24th.

To promote National Shred Day, the tax preparation firm invited world class guitar shredder Michael Angelo Batio and Beyonce’s guitar player Bibi McGill to perform on Facebook Live yesterday, during which a team of lackeys continuously fed “guitar-powered” paper shredders perched atop Marshall stacks.

There’s brilliant marketing and then there’s brilliant marketing, and because YOU’VE WON ME OVER THIS TIME, H&R BLOCK, I’ll give you a plug:

To help Americans shred their documents, H&R Block is hosting its free shred event on Saturday, March 24 at over 400 office locations across the country. They’ll presumably try and wrangle you into hiring them to prepare your taxes while you’re there, but there’s no pressure to do so… and getting help for your taxes is certainly never a bad idea! And, like I said, brilliant marketing.

You can watch a re-broadcast of the live shred-off below via H&R Block’s Facebook page.
