The Faceless’ Michael Keene Reportedly Rushed to the Hospital with Muscle Spasms; Band Performs as a Quartet

Life on the road continues to go poorly for Michael Keene.

Having already had to recruit an entirely new line-up for their most recent round of live dates, in the past week alone, Keene has had to contend with van problems, fan outrage over a truncated festival set, and unflattering recent performance footage making the rounds online.

Now MetalSucks can confirm that The Faceless performed without Keene at The Park Theatre in Winnipeg, MB, last night, Wednesday, June 20. Although no official statement has been released as of this writing, MetalSucks readers who attended the show say they were told Keene had been rushed to the hospital with muscle spasms.

You can watch video fan-filmed footage of The Faceless performing without Keene below:

This news is distressing for a number of reasons. First and foremost, as if it wasn’t already clear enough, Keene needs help. And I know that’s easier said than done, but it’s readily apparent that being on tour isn’t doing him any favors. And P.S., if you work with him and you’re letting him continue to peddle his fantasy version of events, you’re enabling him.

Second of all, it means that Winnipeg fans paid to see a Faceless cover band. Literally not a single person on the stage had anything to do with any of the writing and recording of The Faceless’ music. They apparently sounded very good, but that’s beside the point — if I bought a ticket to go see Metallica and a Metallica cover band showed up instead, I’d be pissed, even if the Metallica cover band did a reasonable job playing the material. It’s not what people came for.

I don’t really know what else to say at this point. I dread every day’s Michael Keene news and am increasingly concerned that this story won’t have a happy ending. This is nothing but depressing.
