Hellyeah are Working on a New Album
Hellyeah were roughly halfway done recording their next album back in January. Five months is a lot of time, so it’s quite likely they’d made significant progress when drummer Vinnie Paul tragically passed away in June (but even if not — drums are usually the first instrument to be recorded and were likely already finished in January). Now the band has posted a photo to Facebook indicating things are moving along in the studio once again.
I was admittedly never much of a fan of Hellyeah’s music, but I’m still rooting for the other guys in the band here; it must feel incredibly cathartic and all sorts of emotional to be in the studio again, hearing and performing over (or even just mixing) Vinnie’s parts. The fact that he’d already recorded drums also allows them to side-step, at least for now, the very difficult decision of if and how to soldier on with a new drummer.
You can take a look at Hellyeah’s recent Facebook post below. That’s producer Kevin Churko behind the boards.
