“As Fast as the Others”: Listen to a New Song by the Late Warrel Dane

In my not-so-humble opinion, “As Fast as the Others,” is the best song we’ve heard thus far from Shadow Work, the last album Warrel Dane completed before his death last year. It’s certainly the most emotional: like many aspects of this release, the chorus — “If you can run as fast as the others, you will still be my brother/ If you can sail into the wind, you will still be my friend” — takes on new meaning in light of Dane’s passing. Do you think there’s any chance Dane and whomever he was writing about managed to get closure before the singer died? Probably not, right?

Right. So, good luck listening to this without getting a little teary.

Shadow Work will come out on October 26th via Century Media. Pre-order it here.
