Avenged Sevenfold Won’t Be Touring in 2019, Aiming for New Album Release in 2020

Avenged Sevenfold had a bit of a rough 2018. After vocalist M. Shadows was ordered by doctors to rest his injured vocal cords, the band had to cancel their summer tour with Prophets of Rage. That put the kibosh on touring for the rest of the year, although the band had played some European and American festivals earlier in the summer and completed a North American arena run the previous winter.

Now it seems as if Avenged Sevenfold’s streak of not touring will continue well into 2019, if not beyond: according to radio host Lou Brutus, guitarist Zacky Vengeance has said that the band will stay off the road to focus on raising their growing families. Posting on Instagram, Brutus relayed:

“AVENGED SEVENFOLD NEWS! Was just texting with Zacky Vengeance and asked him about Avenged Sevenfold touring. He told me, ‘I don’t think we will be doing any touring this year. Got some new babies on the way and are starting to get really focused on new material. I never deal in absolutes, but right now it’s leaning heavily towards 2020.’ While I’m bummed about no touring for awhile, I’m very happy for their family additions and eventual new music. Excelsior!”

The other nugget of news there, of course, is that the band plans to work on new material. By the time the end of 2019 it will have been three years since The Stage, their ill-advised surprise-release that M. Shadows wishes you wouldn’t talk about, so it’ll certainly be time to get cranking on new stuff. As a devoted Avenged Sevenfold fanboy, I’m ready!
