Track Premiere: Ghastly Sound Get Sludgy and Otherworldly on “Bait and Switch”

0

We’ve been big fans of Vermont atmospheric sludge outfit Ghastly Sound for quite some time here at MetalSucks. From their deft melding of classic hardcore influences to the otherworldly vocals of bands like Deftones, Torche and Astronoid and their contribution to the all-metal tribute to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, it’s been a real treat watching the band grow and develop over the years.

We’re also a big fan of their politics; in 2017, bassist T.J. Maynard successfully lead the charge to have a white supremacist who participated in the Charlottesville rally fired from a local Pizzeria Uno.

So we were more than thrilled when the band came to us about premiering “Bait and Switch,” the opening salvo from their forthcoming album, Have a Nice Day (no relation to Bon Jovi, at least as far as we know). Here’s what the band tells MetalSucks of the track:

“‘Bait and Switch’ is about finding yourself in a life different than the one you thought you were chasing. It’s about the magic we used to see in the world before experience pulled back the curtain. There’s an element of personal responsibility we have for where we are. This song is meant to highlight that despite our best intentions, things aren’t what we were made to think they were.”

A-fucking-men. Have a gander at “Bait and Switch” below. Have a Nice Day comes out on September 13 via Magnetic Eye can be pre-ordered here.
