I guess it’s Goth Covers of Classic Rock songs and no one told me. First, we had Marilyn Manson offering his take on The Doors’ “The End.” Now we’ve got a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” from Evanescence. Watch, in another hour or so Wednesday 13 will release a reinterpretation of The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.”

While we wait for that surely life-changing recording, I’ll offer up this controversial opinion: I like this Evanescence/Fleetwood Mac cover. For thing, I’m a sucker for a good string section, which this track most definitely has. For another thing, Evanescene’s problem has never been that Amy Lee lacks singing ability, and her performance here gives me all the feels. Also, Will Hunt’s drums are bangin’, both literally and figuratively. Yeah I know he was in Skrape but he was also in Black Label Society so everybody just relax.

Listen to Evanescence’s Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” below. It appears in Xbox’s Gears of War 5, which was released in September. (How come there’s no nu-metal in Jedi: Fallen Order? What a rip-off!) Evanescence and Within Temptation launch a tour of Europe in the spring. Get dates and tickets here.
