Lacuna Coil Cancel Tour Over Coronavirus Outbreak

0

Lacuna Coil have become the latest metal band to feel the impact of the coronavirus, Covid-19, forced to cancel their upcoming tour of Asia, Australia and Dubai as the virus spreads around their native Lombardy region of Italy.

Italy has now reported 1,694 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 34 deaths, according to CNN, with the country’s outbreak centered around Lacuna Coil’s hometown of Milan. Several cities in the region are on lockdown, with residents not permitted to enter or leave, and many public gathering places (concert halls, for example) have closed entirely until the virus is under control.

Last week, Testament, Exodus and Death Angel chose to skip the Milan stop of their ongoing European tour as the result of the widespread infection in the region.

As far as we know, no members of Lacuna Coil are infected, but instead are making the move proactively as an abundance of caution to avoid potentially spreading the disease. The band posted the following message to Facebook earlier today:

“We regret to inform our beloved fans of South East Asia that due to circumstances beyond our control we must cancel our upcoming shows in Dubai, Bangkok, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore and Jakarta. Our home region of Lombardia, Italy, is in the midst of a Coronavirus outbreak. While cancelling is heartbreaking for us, everyone’s health and safety must come first and this includes our fans. We’re confident this emergency will soon be contained and we can get back on the road to you. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.”

“Ticket refunds are available for headline shows at points of purchase.”

Hopefully this is the end of cancelations as the result of Covid-19, but we fear it’s just the beginning as the virus begins to take hold in the U.S. and spread to other countries in Europe.

Wishing all the best to Lacuna Coil and heir families.
