Havok Unveil Sociopolitical Themed New Track, “Post-Truth Era”

0

Havok’s lyrics have often centered on political and societal themes throughout the thrash outfit’s first four albums. Their fifth, the appropriately titled V, is looking like it’ll continue in that vein (and, given the current state of the world, why wouldn’t it?): their latest single, “Post-Truth Era,” says a whole lot about the band’s outlook on the current political climate right in its title alone.

Here’s guitarist/vocalist/lyricist David Sanchez on the meaning behind the track:

“‘Post-Truth Era’ is debuting at a very uncertain time for humankind. Many things are unclear at the moment, so I hope that this song will resonate with people. Our species has overcome so much to get us where we are today. We should not take this for granted. Please pay attention to the lyrics and understand that we have the power to change our world. We need to read between the lines, while keeping our spirits high. Know that we are truly all in this together and we will come out of this situation, stronger and wiser than ever.“

Give it a listen below, and be sure to check out the previous single, “Phantom Force,” as well. V comes out on May 1 via Century Media; pre-order here.

We recently caught up with Sanchez via video chat to talk about the ongoing pandemic and how it might affect Havok’s touring and album release plans.
