Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Guests on The Hu’s “Song of Women”

Mongolian folk metal outfit The Hu are getting ready to release a deluxe edition of their 2019 album, The Gereg, which features three of the album’s tracks re-recorded with guest artists on top of the original album, and they’ve just unveiled one of those reimagined tracks, “Song of Women,” featuring the indomitable Lzzy Hale.

I can’t say for certain whether I ever heard the original version of this track or not, but the new one is really doing it for me — Lzzy is fantastic all around, one of the best rock vocalists of her generation — her vocals bring this song to life and add an extra dimension that it’s hard for me to imagine was present on the original. I’ll tell you this, though: it’s definitely made me want to revisit The Hu, in whom I never took much of an interest in the past.

The other two guest spots on the deluxe edition of The Gereg come on “Yuve Yuve Yu,” featuring Danny Case of From Ashes To New, and “Wolf Totem,” featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach.

The Gereg deluxe edition will come out on July 10 via Better Noise Music; pre-order here.
