Sevendust’s Clint Lowery Surprise Releases a New EP He Recorded in Quarantine

Well, Clint Lowery sure didn’t waste being stuck at home during the pandemic. The Sevendust guitarist has surprise-released a new solo EP, Grief & Distance, which he recorded while in quarantine. It’s Lowery’s second release this year, after January’s excellent God Bless the Renegades.

As you likely surmised from the title, Grief & Distance isn’t exactly what you’d call a “pick me up” record. Much as Sevendust’s Black Out the Sun was largely about the death of Lowery’s father, G&D (!) is about the death of his mother:

“This EP was my way to process the loss of my mother, and the hard hit and the uncertainty of my livelihood from the pandemic. I escaped into my basement and into the songwriting process… it never fails me.”

You can check out the video for the song “Distance” below, and/or listen to the entire EP via the official Rise Records stream below that. You can buy it here.
