Jam It: Queensryche Frontman Todd La Torre’s Latest Video, “Hellbound and Down”

0

I’ve been singing the praises of Queenryche frontman Todd La Torre’s solo album since its first single came out in December (and ever since), its pan-metal approach of melding different sub-genres and eras, coupled with memorable tunes, earning the album a spot on my vaunted (by likely no one but me) “Favorite Albums of 2021 So Far” list. What I’m saying is this: don’t sleep on this one, folks, regardless of how you feel about Queensryche, because Rejoice In The Suffering is entirely its own beast.

Now La Torre has unveiled a video for the album’s third single, “Hellbound and Down.” The clip is cool (FIRE!) but even if you don’t have time to dedicate to sitting in front of an entire video right this moment, press “play” and leave it on in the background as you work, cook, or whatever, and I guarantee it’ll get stuck in your dome. Every song on this record is catchy like that.

Todd explains:

“‘Hellbound And Down’ is about crossing a line and paying a price. Musically, it is an action-packed metal tune with relentless groove, varying vocal textures, and vocal range. This song once again showcases stellar guitar riffs and soloing by Craig Blackwell.”
