Peaceville Records Founder Paul “Hammy” Halmshaw is Terminally Ill, Needs Your Help
Peaceville Records founder Paul “Hammy” Halmshaw has given us Autopsy, Darkthrone, Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, to name just a few of the many seminal metal acts he’s helped introduce to the world. The least we can do, then, is give him a few bucks in his time of need, wouldn’t you say?
Hammy, who is now 56 years old, was recently diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a hereditary, terminal condition in which the heart muscle becomes weakened and enlarged. “As a result, the heart cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body,” according to MedlinePlug.gov.
Having been left disabled as a result of his condition, Hammy is seeking funding to help retrofit his two-story home to make it easier for him to get around. In a newly launched campaign on JustGiving, he offers:
“After a life in music I became seriously ill in lockdown. I found out I had hereditary dilated cardiomyopathy which is terminal.”
The campaign page elaborates:
“To enable Hammy to continue living at his long time home he needs a ground floor bathroom and bedroom building ASAP… Would you be kind enough to donate some spare change to enable this?”
The campaign has already raised £4,192 from 156 supporters, well on its way to its £10,000 target. Donate here if you can.
