It looks like Netflix are looking to repeat the success they had with Mötley Crüe’s The Dirt.

According to Deadline, the streamer is “near a deal” for Shout it Out Loud, a Kiss biopic to be directed by Norway’s Joachim Rønning. Rønning is best known for directing two Disney franchise flicks, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, but his breakthrough was an excellent movie Kon-Tiki, a true story Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl’s 1947 journey from South America to Polynesian islands… which Heyerdahl completed by raft. I highly recommend it.

ANYWAY, I guess someone felt that Rønning’s experience with weird costumes and make-up gave made him appropriate to helm a movie about Kiss.

The screenplay is by Ole Sanders, who directed Madonna’s video for “Die Another Day,” and W. Blake Herron (The Bourne Identity, Role Models).

The movie will also have the “close cooperation” of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, who, along with their manager, Doc McGhee, are producers on the flick. So expect the movie to conveniently ignore any parts of their story that make them look bad.

There’s no casting or release date yet. We’ll let you know when there is.
