Judas Priest’s Rob Halford is Now a Kentucky Colonel
When I think of Kentucky colonels, I think of Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, as I’m sure you do. I always figured the guy was a decorated war veteran or something, and while this knowledge is probably old hat to Kentuckians, it turns out “colonel” in this context is not military-related at all but an honorific title, the highest awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. And now Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford is a colonel, too!
Halford announced the news on his highly follow-worthy Instagram account, where he added, “”Thank you governor and the people’s of Kentucky a great honour and organisation that’s making good things happen.” He was presented the title by Kentucky governor Andy Beshear and secretary of state Michael Adams. You can see a photo of a proud Halford holding up his official certification in the embed at the bottom of this post.
The Beatles’ Paul McCartney and Tony! Toni! Toné!’s Raphael Saadiq are also colonels, according to the @kycolonel Instagram account.
