New Trivium Coming This Friday (Film? Song? Album?)

0

Trivium have been teasing something for the past few days, and the band has now confirmed what many fans already suspected: something big is coming soon. This Friday, to be exact. But what exactly is it? Still unclear.

The band posted a two-minute-long cinematic trailer, complete with sweeping, on-location shots and professional actors (read: it cost serious money!) containing the phrase “In The Court Of The Dragon” and “The ritual begins 07.09.21” (that’s July 9 in Americanese, not September 7, to clarify for any of our European readers).

But nowhere did the band specifically say that a new song is on the way. Given the production values of the preview, perhaps the band are readying a film of some sort (possibly along with new music). It seems worth pointing out that Ryan Mackfall, the visual component’s director, is best known for a 2019 short film called Backwoods. He also directed Trivium’s video for “What the Dead Men Say” and has done the same for a video with Deftones and live sets for Gojira and Mastodon.

Then again, I could be overthinking things and what’s coming Friday is simply a new song with an especially sick music video.

We’ll find out on Friday! You can watch the trailer below.
