Halsey Shares Preview of Nine Inch Nails-Produced Song in Movie Trailer

Nine Inch Nails collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are producing the new album by pop star Halsey, as we learned last month. Surprising? Yes. Are we curious to hear it? Also yes!

But that’s not all: Halsey will release a theatrical film this summer titled If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. And the NIN-produced album will comprise the entirety of the soundtrack.

Halsey has now shared a two minute trailer of the hour-long movie, which was directed by Colin Tilley and will hit IMAX theaters on August 27 (tickets go on sale August 3 here). The film is about “the lifelong social labyrinth of sexuality and birth,” according to the trailer, and looks like a kind of Game of Thrones-esque tale of fantasy, intrigue and sexuality. I’m interested!

But I’m more interested in the music. It sounds cool, subdued and electronic in nature, not unlike the work Reznor and Ross turned in for The Social Network, but with Halsey’s vocals (a plus). If the track featured here is any indication, the album will be right up my alley (although decidedly un-metal, and even un-rock).
