Serj Tankian (System of a Down) Releases Two New Songs

Serj Tankian has been on a prolific streak of late. So far in 2021 he’s released a 24-minute piano concerto, a collection of “cinematic works” featuring Tankian reading 87 poems over 48 minutes of music, and, of course, his first solo rock album, Elasticity.

But wait; there’s more! The System of a Down frontman has now shared two brand new tracks, “Entitled” and “Piano.” Both come from his next release, Cinematique, an assemblage of 25 cinematic compositions that roam through classical and modern soundscapes, split up into two collections that both come out on August 6.

These are absolutely gorgeous piano works. I’m not certain whether Serj performs them or simply composed them, but they’re the right mood for my morning coffee and start of my work day. If you’re expecting something heavy from Serj, well, sorry to say, it ain’t here.
